The 2023 Domaine Marc Sorrel Hermitage Blanc is a magnificent white Hermitage from one of the Northern Rhône’s most revered traditional producers. Produced by Domaine Marc Sorrel, this cuvée is crafted predominantly from Marsanne with a small proportion of Roussanne, sourced from several historic parcels on the Hermitage hill. Unlike the flagship Les Rocoules, which comes from a single vineyard, the classic Hermitage Blanc is a broader expression of the appellation, combining richness, minerality and remarkable balance. Matured for around 20 months in oak barrels, the outstanding 2023 vintage has produced a wine of exceptional concentration, freshness and longevity.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding choice for collectors and lovers of world-class white wines. Compared to richer white Burgundy styles, Domaine Marc Sorrel Hermitage Blanc offers greater savoury complexity, Rhône character and mineral intensity while still delivering extraordinary texture and depth. While Les Rocoules is the estate's rare single-vineyard masterpiece, the classic Hermitage Blanc delivers exceptional value and beautifully captures the essence of Hermitage. The outstanding 2023 vintage provides impressive generosity and balance, but this is ultimately a wine built for patience. Drink from 2027 onwards or cellar confidently through to 2045–2050 and beyond. Perfect with lobster, scallops, turbot, roast Bresse chicken, truffle-infused poultry, aged Comté or the finest French cuisine.
