BORDEAUX

Bordeaux, located in southwest France along the Atlantic coast, is one of the world’s most celebrated and influential wine regions. With a winemaking history dating back over two millennia, it is renowned for producing some of the most prestigious and age-worthy wines on the planet.

The region is defined by the Gironde estuary and its two main rivers, the Garonne and Dordogne, which divide Bordeaux into the Left Bank and Right Bank—each with distinct terroirs and wine styles. The Left Bank, dominated by gravel soils, is famous for Cabernet Sauvignon–based blends from legendary appellations such as Médoc, Pauillac, Margaux, and Graves. The Right Bank, with its clay- and limestone-rich soils, leans toward Merlot and Cabernet Franc, producing supple and expressive wines from areas like Saint-Émilion and Pomerol.

Bordeaux also excels in white wines, both dry and sweet. Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle are crafted into vibrant whites from Pessac-Léognan or lusciously sweet wines from Sauternes and Barsac.

With over 6,000 producers and 60 appellations, Bordeaux offers extraordinary diversity—from prestigious First Growth châteaux to small family-run estates. Its wines are celebrated for their balance, structure, and aging potential, making Bordeaux not just a region, but a benchmark for fine wine across the globe.
