DOMAINE DE MONTILLE

Domaine de Montille is a historic Burgundy wine estate located in Volnay, France, with roots dating back to the 1730s. The estate gained prominence under Hubert de Montille, who took over in 1947 and expanded the vineyard holdings from 2.5 hectares to approximately 20 hectares, encompassing 20 appellations, with 75% classified as premier cru and grand cru vineyards throughout the Côte d’Or.

Today, the estate is managed by Hubert’s son, Étienne de Montille, who continues the family’s commitment to producing wines that reflect their terroir. The winemaking approach emphasizes whole cluster fermentations, long macerations, punch-downs at the peak of fermentation, and aging primarily in neutral barrels with measured use of new oak. This method focuses on finesse and maintaining lower alcohol levels to enhance the wines’ aging potential.

Domaine de Montille is renowned for producing both red and white wines from prestigious vineyards in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, including Volnay, Pommard, Vosne-Romanée, Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault. Their wines are known for their purity, elegance, and ability to age gracefully, offering layered aromas and flavors that develop over time.
