The 2021 Domaine de Montille Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru Aux Malconsorts Christiane is one of the domaine’s rarest and most extraordinary wines, produced from a tiny 0.49-hectare parcel with a truly unique position beside La Tâche Grand Cru. The parcel forms an enclave bordered to the north and west by the original section of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti’s La Tâche, with paths defining its other boundaries. Domaine de Montille is careful to emphasise that the parcel has never historically formed part of La Tâche, despite this extraordinary geographical relationship. The cuvée is named Christiane in honour of Christiane de Montille, Hubert de Montille’s wife and Étienne’s mother, who passed away in 2008. Production in 2021 was just around 1,500 bottles.
