DOMAINE MARC SORREL
Domaine Marc Sorrel is a distinguished, family-run winery situated in Tain-l’Hermitage, within France’s northern Rhône Valley. Established in 1928 by Félix Sorrel, the estate has remained under the stewardship of the Sorrel family for generations. Marc Sorrel assumed control in 1984, and since 2019, his son Guillaume has been at the helm, continuing the family’s legacy of producing exceptional wines.
Despite its modest size—encompassing just 2.55 hectares—Domaine Marc Sorrel boasts some of the most coveted vineyard sites on the Hermitage hill, including Le Méal, Les Greffieux, and Les Rocoules . The estate is renowned for its traditional, low-intervention winemaking approach, often employing whole-bunch fermentation and aging wines in old oak barrels for up to two years. This methodology yields wines that are both powerful and complex, with firm tannins and lifted aromatics.
Hermitage Rouge “Le Gréal”, the flagship red wine is crafted predominantly from Syrah grapes sourced from the esteemed Le Méal and Les Greffieux lieux-dits. It is celebrated for its depth, structure, and aging potential.
Domaine Marc Sorrel also produces red and white Crozes-Hermitage wines, which, while more accessible, maintain the estate’s commitment to quality and traditional winemaking techniques.
