The 2024 San Salvatore 1988 Falanghina IGP is a vibrant and characterful white wine from Campania in southern Italy, produced from 100% Falanghina grown in the Cannito vineyard. The vines sit at around 150–210 metres above sea level with a sunny south to south-west exposure, helping the variety develop aromatic intensity while retaining freshness. The wine opens with expressive aromas of apricot and banana, layered with elderflower, Mediterranean herbs and fresh citrus notes.
On the palate, it is fresh, elegant and beautifully savoury, with ripe fruit balanced by lively acidity and a distinctive saline character. The grapes are gently pressed and fermented at low temperature in stainless steel before spending around six months on fine lees, adding texture while preserving aromatic purity. The finish is clean, silky and refreshing, capturing the sunny Mediterranean personality of Campania while maintaining excellent freshness and balance.
Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for anyone wanting to explore one of Campania’s classic indigenous white varieties. Falanghina combines generous Mediterranean fruit with freshness and salinity, making it particularly enjoyable with seafood.
