CAMPANIA
Campania is one of Italy’s most historic and distinctive wine regions, located in southern Italy around the city of Naples. With a winemaking tradition dating back to ancient Roman times, Campania is renowned for its indigenous grape varieties, volcanic soils and vibrant Mediterranean character.
The region benefits from a combination of warm Mediterranean climate, cooling coastal breezes and volcanic soils, particularly around Mount Vesuvius. These conditions produce wines with intensity, freshness and distinctive mineral complexity.
Campania is best known for its native grape varieties. Aglianico, often referred to as the “Barolo of the South,” produces powerful, structured reds such as Taurasi DOCG, known for dark fruit, spice and strong ageing potential. The region also excels in white wines, particularly Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo, which offer citrus, stone fruit, floral notes and mineral freshness.
