The 2024 Bachelet-Monnot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières is an exceptional 100% Chardonnay from one of Puligny-Montrachet’s most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards. The domaine works roughly half a hectare of low-yielding, 40-year-old vines on very rocky soils near Les Pucelles and Clavoillon. The 2024 shows white flowers, lime pith, crushed stone, yellow fruit and orange blossom, with remarkable purity and finesse.
On the palate, it is intense yet elegant, with bright acidity, fine mineral tension and beautifully defined fruit flowing into an exceptionally long finish. Neal Martin awarded 92–94 points, while Jasper Morris MW scored it 92–95 points, highlighting its ethereal style, freshness and impressive length.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a superb choice for collectors of fine white Burgundy, combining Puligny’s signature elegance with serious mineral depth and ageing potential. Best enjoyed from around 2030–2036, although patient cellaring may reward further development. Ideal with grilled scallops, lobster, roast barramundi, roast chicken or creamy mushroom dishes.
