The 2023 Racines La Rinconada Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir from California’s Santa Barbara County. Sourced from the upper plantings of La Rinconada Vineyard beside Sanford & Benedict, it shows cranberry, plum and dark cherry with lifted herbs, floral notes and subtle earthy spice.
On the palate, it is bright and refined, with concentrated red and dark fruit, fresh acidity and fine, precise tannins. 75% whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts is followed by 19 months in French oak, including 25% new barrels, adding structure while retaining freshness and mineral definition.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those who enjoy cool-climate Pinot Noir with fragrant fruit, savoury detail and fine tannins. Drinking well now with potential to develop through around 2040. Ideal with roast duck, lamb, mushroom dishes, game birds or roast chicken.
