The 2020 Racines La Rinconada Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir from California’s Santa Barbara County. Sourced from the upper plantings of La Rinconada beside Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, it shows ripe forest berries and red fruit with dried herbs, white pepper, crushed rock and subtle savoury spice.
On the palate, it is structured and mineral-driven, with dark fruit, fresh acidity and firm, dusty tannins. Around two-thirds whole clusters are retained during fermentation before 19 months in 228L French oak barriques, with 30% new oak, adding texture while maintaining the wine’s cool-climate character.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those who enjoy structured California Pinot Noir with savoury complexity, mineral character and ageing potential. Drinking well from 2025–2033. Ideal with roast duck, lamb, game, mushroom dishes or roast chicken.
