The 2023 Domaine Tempier Bandol La Migoua is one of the Rhône-Mediterranean coast’s most celebrated single-vineyard wines. Sourced from the steep, terraced La Migoua vineyard high in the Bandol appellation, this organically farmed cuvée blends predominantly Mourvèdre with Grenache and a small proportion of Cinsault. The elevated site brings greater freshness and aromatic lift, producing a Bandol of exceptional elegance, precision and longevity.
The nose reveals aromas of blackberry, wild raspberry and black cherry layered with violet, lavender, thyme and cracked black pepper. The palate is beautifully structured, with concentrated dark and red berry fruit supported by fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. Notes of liquorice, olive tapenade and crushed stone add complexity, leading to a long, refined finish with remarkable energy and mineral persistence.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A world-class Bandol that perfectly balances power with finesse. Its depth and savoury complexity make it an outstanding match for roast lamb, venison, duck, Provençal cuisine and slow-cooked beef. Enjoy from 2028 onwards with decanting, or cellar confidently through 2045+ as it develops extraordinary complexity, earthy nuance and silky elegance.
