Compared to richer and more powerful Australian Shiraz, Les Challeys offers greater savoury complexity, peppery spice and mineral precision while still delivering generous fruit and excellent drinkability. It’s a fantastic stepping stone into the wines of Saint-Joseph and a superb value alternative to more expensive appellations such as Hermitage or Côte-Rôtie. Drink now or cellar comfortably over the next 8–10 years. Perfect with roast lamb, grilled beef, duck, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, game meats or aged hard cheeses.
