The 2022 Glaetzer Amon-Ra Shiraz is the flagship wine of the Glaetzer portfolio and one of the Barossa Valley's most celebrated single-variety Shiraz releases. Sourced from exceptionally old-vine vineyards, many exceeding 50 to 130 years of age, it delivers remarkable concentration and depth while maintaining balance and precision. The nose is intensely aromatic, revealing layers of blackberry, blueberry and dark plum alongside notes of dark chocolate, espresso, liquorice, cedar and exotic spice.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, with a dense core of dark berry fruit framed by fine, velvety tannins and impressive natural acidity. Flavours of blackberry, black cherry and plum are complemented by notes of mocha, spice, graphite and subtle oak complexity. Despite its richness, the wine remains structured and focused, leading to a long, layered finish that showcases both intensity and refinement.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding Shiraz for collectors and lovers of world-class Barossa reds. While immensely enjoyable with decanting, its concentration, structure and balance make it ideally suited for long-term cellaring. Expect it to evolve beautifully over the next 15–25 years. Pair with slow-roasted lamb shoulder, Wagyu beef, braised short ribs or mature hard cheeses for a memorable food and wine experience.
