The 2020 Racines Sparkling Grand Reserve is a 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs from California’s cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills. The nose shows citrus peel, green apple and orchard fruit with white flowers, hazelnut, brioche and crushed-stone notes, combining fresh Chardonnay character with savoury complexity.
On the palate, it is dry and finely textured, with bright acidity, a refined mousse and citrus and orchard fruit carried by chalky mineral notes. Based on the 2020 harvest, the wine spent around 30 months on lees before disgorgement, adding brioche and nutty detail while retaining freshness.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those who enjoy Chardonnay-based sparkling wine with fine bubbles, mineral structure and lees-derived complexity. Ideal with oysters, scallops, grilled prawns, fresh seafood, roast chicken or creamy mushroom dishes.
