The 2019 Penfolds Grange is a powerful South Australian blend of 97% Shiraz and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Clare Valley. Matured for 19 months in new American oak hogsheads, it opens with intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry and glazed dark fruit, followed by black liquorice, anise, black olive, lavender, exotic spice, dark chocolate and roasted oak.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense and expansive, with vibrant blue and black fruits supported by fresh acidity and firm, grainy tannins. The formidable mid-palate gives way to a creamy, polished texture, with layers of espresso, savoury spice and integrated American oak carrying through the exceptionally persistent finish.

At Wine More Cellars, the 2019 Grange is an outstanding collector’s wine combining immense concentration with freshness and poise. Penfolds recommends a peak drinking window of 2029–2065, so extended cellaring is highly recommended. If opening young, decant for at least four hours. Pair with dry-aged rib-eye, slow-roasted lamb, braised beef short ribs, venison or mature hard cheese.
