The 2019 Kientzler Riesling Grand Cru “Geisberg” is a benchmark Alsace Riesling from one of the region’s most respected family estates in Ribeauvillé. The Geisberg Grand Cru is a tiny, steep, south-facing vineyard renowned for producing some of Alsace’s most mineral, long-lived and refined Rieslings, planted predominantly on marl and limestone soils.
The nose is intensely aromatic and precise, showing lime zest, white peach and citrus blossom layered with smoky minerality, wet stone and delicate floral notes. Critics and merchants consistently highlight the wine’s finesse, purity and Grand Cru depth, with the 2019 vintage receiving praise for both concentration and balance. Bettane & Desseauve awarded the wine 97 points, while La Revue du Vin de France rated it 96 points.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with remarkable tension and crystalline acidity. Citrus, orchard fruit and saline mineral notes are supported by chalky structure and a long, flinty finish. Compared to richer Alsace Rieslings, Geisberg is more linear, elegant and mineral-driven, though still carrying impressive concentration and ageing potential. The 2019 vintage combines ripeness with freshness beautifully, creating a wine that is already expressive yet built for long-term cellaring.

At Wine More Cellars, this is one of the finest dry Alsace Rieslings we recommend for serious white wine collectors. Compared to German Riesling, it’s drier, broader and more mineral; compared to white Burgundy, it offers similar complexity and terroir expression but with much higher acidity and freshness. Kientzler is especially respected for Riesling, and Geisberg is considered their signature vineyard. The 2019 vintage is outstanding because it balances power with elegance and precision. This is not a simple aromatic white — it’s a world-class cellar-worthy Riesling. Drink from 2025 onwards or cellar comfortably for 15–25+ years. Perfect with oysters, lobster, pork, Asian cuisine or refined seafood dishes.
