2023 Te Mata Estate Cape Crest Sauvignon Blanc from Hawke’s Bay is a premium barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc blend inspired by the white wines of Bordeaux. Aromas of grapefruit, lime and stone fruit are layered with subtle oak and spice. Medium-bodied and textured, the palate shows citrus, nectarine and mineral complexity with bright acidity and a long finish. A refined New Zealand white perfect with seafood, roast chicken and creamy dishes.
Light to medium yellow, bright and clear, the spicy bouquet shouts barrel fermentation—it's a complex, well-worked sauvignon blanc which nevertheless still tastes like sauvignon blanc in spite of the barrel-derived characters. Delicious wine, concentrated and intense, and very long on the finish. There's a deep juiciness in the core which delights.
