G.D.VAJRA
G.D. Vajra is a highly respected family-run estate located in the hamlet of Vergne, the highest point within the Barolo commune in Piedmont, Italy. Founded in 1972 by Aldo Vaira, the winery was established at a time when many were leaving rural farming behind. Aldo, committed to tradition and sustainability, was an early pioneer of organic viticulture in the region. Today, the estate is managed by the second generation—Giuseppe, Isidoro, and Francesca Vaira—who continue the legacy with the guidance of Aldo and his wife Milena. Their focus remains on elegant, terroir-driven wines made with respect for the land and traditional methods.
G.D. Vajra’s vineyards are spread across Barolo, Novello, Serralunga, and Sinio, with prized holdings in crus such as Bricco delle Viole and Ravera. The winery also owns the Luigi Baudana label, which includes exceptional parcels in Serralunga d’Alba. The elevated position of their home vineyards in Vergne offers cooler conditions that extend ripening, adding complexity and finesse to their Nebbiolo-based wines.
G.D. Vajra wines have garnered international acclaim for their purity, precision, and authenticity. Critics and wine lovers alike frequently highlight the Albe Barolo and Langhe Nebbiolo for delivering exceptional quality at accessible prices. Online wine communities praise Vajra for offering elegance across all price points, making it a go-to producer for both newcomers and seasoned collectors.
