The 2023 G.D. Vajra Freisa Kyè is a distinctive Langhe red made from 100% Freisa, a historic Piedmontese variety closely related to Nebbiolo. The nose is fragrant and savoury, showing sour cherry, pomegranate and dried violet with orange peel, sandalwood, sweet tobacco and subtle spice.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and energetic with vibrant acidity and Freisa’s naturally firm tannin structure. Forest berries, lavender, star anise and black tea add complexity, while a 43-day fermentation and four months in Slavonian oak help build texture without masking the fruit. The finish is long, savoury and finely structured.
