The 2024 Blind Corner Quindalup Chardonnay Aligoté is a vibrant and textural Margaret River white that reflects Blind Corner’s organic, biodynamic and minimal intervention philosophy. Sourced from a single vineyard block where Chardonnay is gradually being grafted over to Aligoté, the wine is wild fermented and handled with minimal filtration to preserve purity and site expression. The nose is bright and expressive, showing nectarine, citrus zest and green apple layered with subtle floral and herbal notes. There is a lifted freshness with hints of lemon balm and mineral nuance, alongside a gentle savoury edge that adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a distinctive balance between texture and freshness. The Chardonnay component brings a rounded, slightly creamy mouthfeel, while the Aligoté adds a zippy, citrus-driven acidity and subtle tang. Flavours of stone fruit, lemon curd and citrus are supported by a fine mineral backbone, giving the wine a linear, lively profile. The finish is dry, energetic and persistent, highlighting both precision and drinkability.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is one of the most interesting white blends coming out of Margaret River — essentially a modern take on a classic Burgundian concept (Chardonnay + Aligoté). Compared to standard Chardonnay, it offers more freshness, tension and drinkability, while still retaining texture and depth. It sits somewhere between a textural Chardonnay and a crisp, mineral white, making it highly versatile. Best enjoyed well chilled, drink now through 2029+ for its vibrancy. Perfect with seafood, ceviche, tempura, salads or light, citrus-driven dishes.
