ALIGOTE

Aligoté is a traditional white grape variety from Burgundy, France, known for its fresh, crisp, and vibrant style. While often overshadowed by Chardonnay, Aligoté has gained increasing attention for its purity, high acidity, and excellent drinkability.

The grape is primarily grown in Burgundy, particularly in the Bourgogne Aligoté appellation, where cooler climates and limestone-rich soils help preserve its natural freshness and minerality. These conditions allow Aligoté to produce wines that are bright, lively, and expressive.

Aligoté wines are typically light-bodied and refreshing, offering flavors of lemon, green apple, and citrus, often with subtle floral and mineral notes. The high acidity makes it particularly suitable for early drinking, though some producers create more complex, structured styles from older vines.

As a versatile and food-friendly wine, Aligoté pairs well with seafood, oysters, salads, and light dishes. It is also traditionally used in the classic French cocktail Kir when mixed with crème de cassis.
