The 2025 Wilfred Nero is a vibrant Nero d’Avola from McLaren Vale, South Australia. Sourced from a single vineyard planted on Pirramimma Sandstone, it shows bright blackcurrant, plum and mulberry alongside delicate florals, dried herbs and subtle earthy spice.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and juicy, with fresh berry fruit and savoury spice balanced by bright cranberry-like acidity. Firm yet supple tannins provide gentle structure without making the wine feel heavy. Wild-yeast fermentation in open-top fermenters is followed by five months in seasoned French oak hogsheads, adding texture while keeping the fruit fresh and expressive.
