The 2025 Giant Steps Coal River Pinot Noir is a concentrated cool-climate red from Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, sourced from a vineyard planted in 1999. The nose shows dark cherry and blackberry with crushed violet, white and black pepper and a subtle mineral edge.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet dense and structured, with concentrated dark fruit, fresh acidity and compact, fine-grained tannins. The fruit was fully destemmed before maturation in French oak barriques, adding gentle complexity while maintaining freshness through the long, savoury finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Pinot Noir drinkers who enjoy darker fruit, fine tannins and a more structured Tasmanian expression. Enjoy it now with some air or cellar over the next 6–10 years. Ideal with roast duck, grilled lamb, mushroom dishes, roast pork or chargrilled salmon.
