The 2025 Felton Road Block 2 Chardonnay is a precise single-vineyard Chardonnay from mature vines planted in 1992 within the Elms Vineyard in Bannockburn, Central Otago. Its cool, east-facing slope and deep schist soils produce a finely focused wine, opening with lemon blossom, elderflower, green apple and white peach alongside flint and crushed stone.
On the palate, it is tightly structured and energetic, with bright citrus, subtle stone fruit and a restrained, creamy texture. Vibrant acidity draws the wine through a pronounced mineral core, while understated seasoned oak allows the vineyard character to remain at the forefront. The finish is long, saline and beautifully defined.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent alternative for lovers of mineral-driven white Burgundy. It is impressive now with some air but will become more layered and expressive with five to ten years of bottle age. Ideal with oysters, scallops, lobster, grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes or goat’s cheese.
