The 2025 Felton Road Block 5 Pinot Noir is a profound single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the biodynamically farmed Elms Vineyard in Bannockburn, Central Otago. It offers an intense and complex bouquet of dark cherry, raspberry and wild berries, layered with hibiscus, dried herbs, green tobacco, sandalwood, black tea and subtle smoky spice.
The palate is concentrated yet finely controlled, with pure dark fruit, vibrant acidity and abundant polished tannins. Notes of juniper, liquorice, red clay and schist-like minerality add savoury depth, leading to an exceptionally long, precise and persistent finish. Matured for 16 months in French oak, including approximately 25% new barrels, this is a powerful young Pinot Noir built for extended ageing.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is one of New Zealand’s benchmark Pinot Noirs and a compelling cellar choice for collectors. Ideally cellar until 2030 before opening, with the potential to develop beautifully through the 2040s. If enjoyed young, decant for one to two hours. Excellent with roast duck, venison, lamb, beef Wellington, truffle dishes or wild mushrooms.
