The 2025 Felton Road Calvert Pinot Noir is a refined single-vineyard expression from biodynamically farmed vines in Bannockburn, Central Otago. The Calvert Vineyard’s deep, clay-rich soils produce a darker and more firmly structured style, with aromas of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry and plum accompanied by red flowers, wild thyme, sage and earthy minerality.
On the palate, concentrated dark fruit is balanced by vibrant acidity and polished, finely grained tannins. Layers of cedar, liquorice, cocoa, baking spice and iron-like minerality unfold across the wine, leading to a long, composed and cool-toned finish. It is powerful and savoury, yet maintains the precision and freshness characteristic of Felton Road.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those who enjoy structured, terroir-driven Pinot Noir with both New World fruit and Burgundian restraint. Enjoy young with one hour of decanting or cellar for five to fifteen years. Ideal with roast duck, venison, lamb, mushroom risotto, truffle dishes or aged soft cheeses.
