The 2024 Yokel Rosé is a vibrant Grenache Rosé from the Swan Valley, Western Australia, crafted by Dormilona using a minimal-intervention approach. Sourced from the historic Vino Italia vineyard, the hand-picked fruit spends just a short time on skins before being basket pressed to amphora for fermentation. The wine is then matured briefly on lees, blended in a concrete egg and bottled with only a small addition of sulphur, preserving its freshness and purity. Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and watermelon are complemented by delicate floral notes and a subtle savoury edge.
On the palate, it is light-bodied with crisp natural acidity and a silky, refreshing texture. Bright flavours of red berries, pink grapefruit and citrus are supported by gentle minerality, leading to a dry, clean finish. The combination of amphora, oak and concrete maturation adds subtle texture while allowing the vibrant Grenache fruit to remain the focus.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is a fantastic Rosé for customers who enjoy fresh, dry and textural wines with plenty of character. Serve well chilled with grilled prawns, fresh salads, charcuterie, Mediterranean-style dishes or soft cheeses. Best enjoyed while young over the next2–3 years to appreciate its vibrant fruit and lively freshness.
