Planted in 2016 on a sheltered, quartz-rich north-west-facing slope adjoining the celebrated Block 5 vineyard, Block 8 consistently delivers Pinot Noir of impressive concentration, structure and mineral detail. The warmer 2024 growing season has produced a wine of greater richness and depth than the previous vintage, while preserving the freshness and precision that define the Bindi style.
The bouquet is layered and expressive, revealing ripe red cherry, dark cherry and red plum intertwined with notes of earth, forest undergrowth and savoury meatiness. Sweet gingerbread spice adds warmth and aromatic complexity, while subtle mineral nuances emerge with air, giving the wine both generosity and restraint. Although deeply flavoured, the nose remains intriguingly reserved, suggesting considerable complexity still to unfold with time in bottle.
The palate is rich, full-bodied and expansive, combining juicy, concentrated fruit with a creamy, seamless texture. Layers of ripe red and dark fruits are balanced by savoury earth, spice and a fine mineral backbone that brings focus and energy. Silky, fine-grained tannins provide impressive structure without heaviness, carrying the wine effortlessly through a long, persistent finish where notes of spice, forest floor and dark cherry linger. Despite its generosity, the wine remains poised and harmonious, reflecting both the vineyard’s close-planted intensity and Bindi’s restrained winemaking philosophy.
The 2024 Block 8 Pinot Noir is built for cellaring, with seven or more years of bottle age expected to reveal greater savoury complexity, aromatic nuance and textural refinement.
