The 2024 Bindi Block 5 Pinot Noir is an exceptional single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the Macedon Ranges in Victoria and one of the flagship wines of Bindi. Block 5 is a tiny, approximately half-hectare vineyard planted in 1992 on a sheltered north-facing site with exceptionally quartz-rich soils. The 2024 vintage was very low yielding, producing a wine of remarkable concentration and definition. It opens with expressive aromas of red and black cherry, blood orange and red berries, layered with violet, exotic spice, warm earth, autumn leaves and distinctive mineral notes. The wine received 98 points from Halliday Wine Companion, confirming the exceptional quality of this release.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet remarkably concentrated, with juicy layered fruit supported by vibrant acidity and beautifully defined tannins. Red and dark cherry are complemented by blood orange, savoury herbs, subtle spice and earthy complexity, while the vineyard’s mineral character brings tension and precision. Despite the power of the low-yielding 2024 vintage, the wine remains poised and elegant, with excellent length and a finely structured finish. Bindi suggests that the wine will continue improving for at least eight years, with the structure for considerably longer development.

At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding choice for serious Australian Pinot Noir collectors. Block 5 has been elevated to the highest tier of the Langton’s Classification, placing it among Australia’s most recognised collectible wines, and the 98-point 2024 vintage is a particularly compelling release. While already impressive, this is a wine worth cellaring - the combination of concentration, fine tannins and mineral precision should become increasingly complex with time. Pair with roast duck, pigeon, truffle dishes, wild mushrooms, grilled quail or refined game dishes.
