The 2023 Lucien Le Moine Pommard 1er Cru Les Grands Épenots is an exceptional Premier Cru Pinot Noir from one of Pommard's most distinguished vineyards. Sourced from the higher, limestone-rich section of Les Grands Épenots, the site's excellent drainage produces a wine of remarkable finesse and elegance. Crafted by Mounir and Rotem Saouma, the fruit is fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured on its lees in French oak, following the domaine's meticulous, low-intervention philosophy. The nose is beautifully perfumed, revealing wild cherry, raspberry and red plum layered with rose petals, subtle spice, forest floor and fine mineral notes.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with silky, refined tannins, vibrant acidity and exceptional precision. Pure red berry fruit is framed by delicate oak, savoury complexity and a chalky mineral backbone, leading to a long, graceful finish of outstanding balance and persistence. More elegant and approachable than the neighbouring Les Épenots, this is a superb expression of Pommard with impressive ageing potential.
