The 2023 Domaine Thierry et Pascale Matrot Volnay Premier Cru Santenots is a refined Pinot Noir from the Santenots vineyard, located within Meursault but classified as Volnay for its red wines. The nose shows dark cherry, blackberry and strawberry with floral notes, subtle spice and an earthy mineral character.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and structured with vibrant acidity, juicy dark cherry fruit and fine, velvety tannins. The grapes are fully destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts before 15 months in oak, including around 20% new barrels, followed by three months in tank. The finish is long, savoury and finely balanced.
