The 2023 Domaine Jean-Marc et Thomas Bouley Volnay 1er Cru Les Mitans is a refined Premier Cru Pinot Noir from Volnay in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, produced by one of the village’s increasingly sought-after domaines. Thomas Bouley represents the fourth generation of his family and has progressively elevated the estate through meticulous vineyard work, low yields and a restrained approach in the cellar. Les Mitans sits in the central section of Volnay’s Premier Cru slope, an exceptionally well-positioned area traditionally associated with some of the village’s most complete wines. The site combines classic limestone and clay soils with excellent exposure, giving Pinot Noir the perfume and delicacy associated with Volnay while retaining enough structure for serious ageing. The 2023 vintage adds generous fruit and aromatic intensity, making this an especially expressive interpretation of the vineyard.
