The 2023 Bondar Hope Springs Eternal Clarendon Shiraz is a refined expression of McLaren Vale Shiraz, sourced from the high-altitude Hickinbotham Vineyard in Clarendon. Planted in 1971 on rocky, ironstone-rich soils, the vineyard produces Shiraz with impressive freshness and structure. The nose shows red and dark berries, blueberry and bramble alongside pepper, savoury spice and earthy, ferrous notes.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet finely structured, with vibrant acidity and firm, detailed tannins. Around 65% whole bunches were used during fermentation, followed by 14 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads, bringing savoury spice and texture without overwhelming the fruit.
