The 2022 Domaine Collotte Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes is a beautifully expressive old-vine Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits. The wine comes predominantly from 40–50+ year-old vines in Les Échanges and Les Athets, situated immediately below the village's Premier Cru vineyards, with smaller contributions from Les Chardannes and Les Herbues. Some sources trace the core old-vine material back to plantings around 1955. These mature vines give the wine unusual concentration for village-level Chambolle-Musigny while retaining the perfume, delicacy and silky texture for which the appellation is famous. Significantly, 2022 was the final vintage of this Vieilles Vignes cuvée, as the Chambolle family that owned the leased vineyards took the vines back to farm themselves.
The 2022 is 100% Pinot Noir at 13.5% alcohol, showing red cherry, raspberry and plum alongside delicate flowers, subtle spice and gentle vanilla. Bill Nanson of Burgundy Report found the wine initially restrained but increasingly broad and expressive, with red fruit, floral perfume and particularly fine, velvety tannins, calling it a classic Chambolle and "another beauty." Domaine Collotte describes the palate as fluid and long, with a lightly vanilla-toned finish and approximately 15 years of ageing potential. The generous character of the 2022 vintage gives the wine excellent depth, but it remains elegant rather than heavy - the old vines contribute intensity without obscuring Chambolle's natural finesse.
