DOMAINE COLLOTTE

Domaine Collotte is a respected, family-run estate based in Marsannay-la-Côte, at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, France. The domaine has built a strong reputation for producing wines that offer outstanding quality and value, particularly from appellations such as Marsannay, Fixin, and Gevrey-Chambertin. Its wines are celebrated for their purity of fruit, balance, and faithful expression of terroir — classic examples of Burgundy that combine authenticity with approachability.

The estate was founded in the 1930s, but its modern success story began under Philippe Collotte, who took over from his father Jack Collotte in 1987. Philippe expanded the domaine’s holdings to around 17 hectares, focusing on vineyard sites that capture the diversity and character of Marsannay — the only appellation in the Côte de Nuits that produces red, white, and rosé wines. In recent years, Philippe’s daughter Isabelle Collotte has joined the family business, bringing youthful energy and refinement to both vineyard management and winemaking.

Domaine Collotte farms old vines, many of which are 50–70 years old, with deep-rooted plants that yield naturally low quantities of concentrated, expressive fruit. The vineyards are tended sustainably, with careful attention to soil health and minimal chemical intervention. The estate’s parcels span several prized Marsannay lieux-dits — including Les Boivins, Le Clos de Jeu, and En Combereau — as well as holdings in Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin, where the wines show classic Côte de Nuits power and structure.

In the cellar, Philippe and Isabelle combine traditional Burgundian craftsmanship with a modern sense of precision. The wines are fermented with native yeasts, and élevage typically takes place in French oak barrels (with around 20–30% new oak for the top cuvées), allowing the delicate Pinot Noir fruit and terroir nuances to shine. The resulting style is supple, aromatic, and finely balanced, with a focus on purity rather than heaviness.

Today, Domaine Collotte is widely recognized as one of Marsannay’s top producers, offering wines that overdeliver in quality relative to their appellation. The reds are vibrant and layered, with aromas of red cherry, violet, and spice, while the whites show freshness and mineral lift. As Isabelle continues to shape the domaine’s future, the wines of Collotte remain a testament to family tradition, terroir respect, and thoughtful evolution, representing the very best of modern Burgundy craftsmanship.
