The 2024 Domaine Collotte Bourgogne Cuvée de Noble Souche is an exceptional-value Bourgogne Rouge with considerably more pedigree than its regional appellation might suggest. The wine is produced predominantly from Pinot Noir vines planted in 1947 in Champ Forey, situated east of Marsannay-la-Côte, which accounts for around 80% of the blend, while the remaining 20% comes from vines in Chambolle-Musigny. This combination of genuinely old vines and Côte de Nuits fruit gives the Cuvée de Noble Souche unusual concentration and depth for a Bourgogne-level wine.

The fruit is hand-picked, 100% destemmed and fermented in stainless steel, an approach designed to preserve freshness and fruit purity rather than introduce excessive extraction or oak influence. The 2024 is bright and energetic, showing red cherry, raspberry and darker berry fruit alongside floral notes, gentle spice and subtle earthy complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and supple, with juicy fruit, fresh acidity and fine tannins leading into a balanced, savoury finish. At around 13% alcohol, the style remains elegant and distinctly Burgundian, with the old vines providing an impressive extra layer of depth.

Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, I think this is a particularly compelling Bourgogne Rouge because the vineyard story makes the value proposition very easy to understand. Around 80% comes from vines planted in 1947, with the remaining fruit coming from Chambolle-Musigny, yet it remains classified simply as Bourgogne Pinot Noir. For customers wanting to explore Burgundy without immediately moving into expensive village wines, this is exactly the type of bottle I would recommend. It has genuine old-vine concentration but remains fresh, elegant and extremely easy to drink. Enjoy now or over the next 5–6 years. Pair with roast chicken, duck, charcuterie, mushroom dishes, pork, pasta or soft-rind cheeses.
