The 2022 Domaine Courbis Cornas La Sabarotte is a powerful single-vineyard Syrah sourced from one of Cornas’ most respected hillside sites. The Courbis brothers farm steep granite terraces in the northern Rhône, and La Sabarotte represents one of their most concentrated and age-worthy wines. Produced from old vines and matured in French oak, it captures the intensity and mineral character that have made Cornas one of the world's great Syrah appellations.
The nose reveals blackberry, blackcurrant and dark plum alongside notes of violet, cracked pepper, smoked meat and crushed granite. Full-bodied and structured, the palate combines dense dark fruit with firm yet polished tannins, vibrant acidity and a powerful mineral core. Layers of liquorice, olive tapenade and spice unfold through a long, savoury finish. The 2022 vintage offers impressive concentration while maintaining freshness and balance.

A serious Cornas that showcases the power and complexity of Northern Rhône Syrah. Rich, savoury and built for ageing, it pairs beautifully with roast lamb, venison, beef rib, game dishes and hard cheeses. Decant for several hours if drinking young, or cellar confidently through 2040–2045 as it develops greater depth, complexity and tertiary character.
