The 2021 SOHO Valentina Syrah is a premium cool-climate Syrah from New Zealand's Waiheke Island, crafted in honour of Valentina, the daughter of SOHO founder Rachael Carter. Sourced from carefully selected vineyards, it showcases the elegance and concentration for which Waiheke Island is renowned. The nose is expressive with aromas of blackberry, dark plum and black cherry, complemented by notes of cracked black pepper, violet, savoury herbs and subtle French oak spice.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with fine, velvety tannins and vibrant natural acidity. Rich flavours of blackberry, dark cherry and plum are layered with hints of liquorice, cocoa and smoky spice, leading to a long, refined finish with excellent balance and persistence. Drinking beautifully now after a short decant, it will continue to develop gracefully over the next 8–10 years.
