The 2021 Ata Rangi Kotinga Pinot Noir is a limited-release Pinot Noir from Martinborough, crafted to showcase the vibrant character of Dijon clones grown on free-draining gravel soils. Produced by the acclaimed Ata Rangi, this distinctive wine opens with lifted aromas of red cherry, red currant and plum, accented by floral notes, subtle spice and a touch of juniper. It is matured in a large French oak foudre, allowing the purity and freshness of the fruit to take centre stage.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with supple tannins, bright natural acidity and vibrant flavours of red berries, plum skin and delicate savoury herbs. Its fine mineral texture and lively structure carry through to a long, precise finish, making it an elegant and expressive example of Martinborough Pinot Noir.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding Pinot Noir for lovers of refined, cool-climate wines with purity and finesse. Enjoy alongside roast duck, herb-crusted lamb, grilled salmon or wild mushroom dishes. While approachable with a short decant, it will continue to evolve beautifully through 2027–2037.
