ATA RANGI

Ata Rangi, meaning “dawn sky” or “new beginning” in Te Reo Māori, is a small, family-owned organic winery located in Martinborough, New Zealand. Founded in 1980 by Clive Paton, the winery has gained an enviable international reputation for its exceptional Pinot Noir. The estate’s flagship Pinot Noir is celebrated for its complexity and depth, often featuring aromas of green strawberry, hibiscus tea, milk chocolate, and rosemary stem. On the palate, it offers a medium body with velvety tannins and a silky texture, leading to a slightly chewy finish. In addition to Pinot Noir, Ata Rangi produces a range of varietals, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah, each reflecting the unique terroir of Martinborough.

Under the stewardship of Clive’s sister, Alison Paton, and winemaker Helen Masters, Ata Rangi continues to craft wines that authentically capture the essence of their place. Renowned for quality and sustainability, Ata Rangi has solidified its status as one of the New World’s most respected Pinot Noir producers.
