The 2020 Fontodi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is one of Italy’s greatest expressions of Sangiovese and a benchmark for the modern era of Chianti Classico. Compared to the estate’s new Pastrolo Gran Selezione, which highlights the high-altitude elegance of Lamole, Vigna del Sorbo offers greater power, darker fruit and the unmistakable richness of Panzano while retaining exceptional balance and freshness. Although already captivating with 2–3 hours of decanting, the 2020 is still remarkably youthful and promises decades of evolution. Drink from 2028 onwards or cellar confidently through to 2050 and beyond. Perfect with bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-braised beef, wild boar ragù, roast lamb, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, porcini mushrooms, truffle-infused dishes or the finest Tuscan cuisine.
