Fontodi Winery is a distinguished, family-run estate nestled in the heart of the Chianti Classico region in Panzano in Chianti, Tuscany, Italy. The winery sits in the famed “Conca d’Oro” (Golden Shell) valley, known for its amphitheatre-like terrain, unique soils, and warm, dry microclimate with significant diurnal temperature swings — all of which contribute to the exceptional quality of the grapes and resulting wines. 

All wines from Fontodi are made exclusively from grapes grown in the estate’s own vineyards and hand-harvested to ensure quality, with vinification and maturation designed to highlight the character of both the Sangiovese grape and its terroir.  The winery’s portfolio includes classic Chianti Classico DOCG, the prestigious Vigna del Sorbo Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, and the iconic Flaccianello della Pieve — a powerful, elegant 100% Sangiovese often considered among Italy’s benchmark Tuscan reds. 

Fontodi’s wines are celebrated for their balance of vibrant fruit, refined structure, and ageing potential — expressions of tradition fused with careful vineyard management and meticulous winemaking.  While the estate also produces other varietal and regional wines, it remains best known for showcasing the purity and depth of Chianti Classico’s indigenous Sangiovese.
