The 2020 Domaine de Chevalier Rouge is a distinguished Grand Cru Classé de Graves from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, made from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. The nose is concentrated and expressive with black cherry, cassis and blueberry, layered with peppery spice, vanilla and subtle earthy notes.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with impressive concentration, freshness and fleshy yet finely structured tannins. Matured for 18 months in French oak, including 35% new barrels, it combines rich dark fruit with spice and mineral complexity, leading to a long, elegant and persistent finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Bordeaux drinkers who enjoy concentrated Cabernet-driven wines with fine tannins, dark fruit and the mineral character of Pessac-Léognan. Enjoy it from around 2028 onwards or cellar well into the 2040s and beyond as further savoury complexity develops. Ideal with roast lamb, grilled steak, slow-braised beef, duck, venison or mature hard cheeses.
