The 2012 Bernabeleva Cantocuerdas Moscatel is a distinctive sweet white from Vinos de Madrid, Spain, made from Moscatel de Grano Menudo grown in a small parcel of mature vines. The nose is highly aromatic, showing dried flowers, spiced orange and apricot kernel with subtle citrus and savoury notes.
On the palate, it is textured and delicately sweet, balanced by lively acidity, saline freshness and a gentle phenolic grip. The wine spends around 10 months on lees in mature 500-litre French oak barrels, adding texture without dominating the aromatic Moscatel character.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those exploring mature Spanish Moscatel with sweetness, freshness and savoury complexity. The 500ml format works particularly well alongside food. Ideal with citrus tart, glazed pork, mild cheeses, fruit-based desserts or aromatic Thai coconut dishes.
