The 2000 Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Calvados 10 Years Old (42% Alc.) is a beautifully mature Calvados Pays d'Auge from the historic Giard family, who have been producing Calvados in Normandy for over twelve generations. Crafted exclusively from traditional cider apple varieties, the fruit is naturally fermented for up to a year before double distillation in copper pot stills, as required by the Pays d'Auge appellation. The spirit is then aged in seasoned French oak casks for at least 10 years, developing exceptional depth while preserving its vibrant apple character. The nose is rich and inviting, revealing baked apple, caramel, dried apricot and honey layered with cinnamon, vanilla and toasted oak.

On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a silky texture and beautifully integrated oak. Flavours of baked apple, toffee, orange peel and warming baking spices unfold over subtle nutty and earthy notes, finishing long, dry and elegantly balanced with lingering apple and spice. Mature yet wonderfully fresh, it is a classic Pays d'Auge Calvados that showcases both the purity of the fruit and the patience of extended ageing.

Ben's Recommendation:
The 2000 Domaine du Manoir de Montreuil Calvados 10 Years Old (42% Alc.) is best enjoyed neat at 15–18°C in a tulip-shaped glass after dinner. It pairs beautifully with apple tart, crème brûlée, aged Comté, Roquefort or dark chocolate, and also makes a superb digestif. Enjoy now or continue to cellar for many years, as it will remain beautifully expressive in bottle.
