The 2023 Strelley Farm Chardonnay is a refined Tasmanian Chardonnay that showcases the purity and freshness of fruit sourced from some of the island’s leading cool-climate regions. Crafted under the direction of winemaker Liam McElhinney, the wine combines fruit from the Derwent Valley, Coal River Valley, East Coast, Tamar Valley and Pipers River, delivering both regional character and balance. Aromas of white peach, pear and citrus are complemented by subtle floral notes, almond spice and a touch of wet stone minerality.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a smooth, layered texture and bright natural acidity. Flavours of nectarine, yellow grapefruit and ripe stone fruit are supported by hints of cashew, biscuit and mineral complexity. Fermentation and maturation in seasoned French oak, along with partial malolactic conversion, add depth and texture while allowing the fruit to remain the focus. The finish is long, fresh and elegantly balanced.
