The 2024 Portsea Estate Main Ridge Vineyard Chardonnay is a textural cool-climate white from Main Ridge on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. The vineyard sits at around 174 metres elevation on red volcanic basalt soils, producing Chardonnay with freshness and mineral definition. The nose shows white peach, citrus and grapefruit with subtle floral, savoury and mineral notes.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with bright acidity and a finely textured feel, combining citrus and stone fruit with gentle savoury complexity. The cool maritime conditions of Mornington Peninsula help maintain freshness, leading to a dry, focused and persistent finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Chardonnay drinkers who enjoy freshness, texture and mineral character rather than a heavily oaked style. Enjoy it now or cellar over the next 4–6 years. Ideal with grilled snapper, seared scallops, roast chicken, seafood pasta or mushroom risotto.
