JIM BARRY

Jim Barry Wines is a distinguished family-owned winery located in South Australia’s Clare Valley, renowned for its exceptional Riesling, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Established in 1959 by Jim and Nancy Barry, the winery has played a pivotal role in shaping the Clare Valley’s reputation as a premier wine-producing region.

Jim Barry was the first qualified winemaker in the Clare Valley, graduating with a degree in Oenology from Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1947. His dedication to quality and innovation laid the foundation for the winery’s success. Today, the legacy continues with second and third-generation family members actively involved in the business. Peter Barry, Jim’s son, became managing director in 1985, and his children—Tom, Sam, and Olivia—hold key roles as winemaker, commercial manager, and brand ambassador, respectively.

The winery manages over 320 hectares of vineyards across 17 locations in the Clare Valley, along with a 14-hectare property in Coonawarra. This extensive estate allows Jim Barry Wines to produce a diverse range of high-quality wines, including the acclaimed ‘The Armagh’ Shiraz and ‘The Florita’ Riesling. Notably, they are also recognized for producing Australia’s only Assyrtiko, a Greek varietal native to Santorini.
