The 2020 Bindi Darshan Pinot Noir is an exceptional single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the renowned Bindi Wines estate in the Macedon Ranges. Planted in 2001 and named after the Sanskrit word for "vision" or "insight," the Darshan vineyard consistently produces wines that combine the concentration of Block 8 with the perfume and finesse of the Original Vineyard. Matured for 15–17 months in French oak, around 35% of which is new, the 2020 vintage is a powerful yet beautifully refined expression of one of Australia’s greatest cool-climate Pinot Noir vineyards. The outstanding 2020 growing season delivered remarkable fruit purity, structure and ageing potential.
The nose is intensely aromatic and beautifully layered, revealing aromas of wild berries, red cherry and raspberry alongside rose petals, violets and exotic spices. As the wine opens, notes of ginger, forest floor and game emerge, complemented by hints of black tea, cedar and crushed stone. The aromatic profile is both vibrant and complex, balancing bright fruit with savoury detail and the distinctive earthy character that has become a hallmark of Bindi's finest Pinot Noirs.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with exceptional concentration, silky tannins and remarkable precision. Layers of red cherry, wild berry and cranberry unfold seamlessly across the palate, supported by subtle spice, savoury complexity and a finely etched mineral backbone. The texture is creamy yet energetic, with a supple flow of fruit and tannins that gives the wine both elegance and power. Vibrant natural acidity provides freshness and drive, while the finish is exceptionally long and persistent, carrying lingering notes of red fruits, spice, forest floor and mineral complexity. The style is refined, harmonious and distinctly Macedon Ranges, combining depth with remarkable transparency.
