The 2020 Bindi Block 8 Pinot Noir is one of Australia’s finest single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, produced from the high-density Block 8 vineyard in the Macedon Ranges by the iconic Bindi Wines estate. Block 8 is planted to close-spaced vines that naturally produce tiny yields of intensely flavoured fruit, resulting in a Pinot Noir of exceptional concentration, structure and longevity. Matured for 15–17 months in French oak, with around 50% new barrels, the wine is built for long-term ageing while maintaining the elegance and transparency that define Bindi. The outstanding 2020 vintage has produced a wine of remarkable depth, energy and precision.
The nose is intensely layered and captivating, revealing aromas of black cherry, red cherry and wild raspberry alongside ginger, brown spice and subtle gamey complexity. As the wine opens, notes of forest floor, dried herbs and crushed stone emerge, complemented by hints of cedar, tea leaf and fine oak. The aromatic profile is both powerful and refined, displaying remarkable purity while maintaining the distinctive earthy character that has become a hallmark of Block 8.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with exceptional concentration, silky tannins and vibrant natural acidity. Layers of dark cherry, blackberry and wild berry fruits unfold across the palate, supported by savoury spice, earthy complexity and a finely etched mineral backbone. The high-density planting contributes impressive fruit intensity and structural depth, while the cool Macedon Ranges climate preserves freshness and precision. The texture is seamless and refined, leading to a long, persistent and beautifully balanced finish marked by lingering notes of dark fruits, spice, forest floor and mineral complexity. The style is powerful yet elegant, offering a distinctly Australian interpretation of world-class Pinot Noir.
